Following the death of George Floyd, the “Black Lives Matter” protest wave has also reached Namibia. DHPS pupils demonstrated. It is strange that they are joining forces with a movement that is directed against racism in the USA, because they remain silent about grievances in the same context in their own country. Once again, this looks like (misunderstood) political correctness instead of deep debate.

Floyd’s death was unnecessary. So was the death of Frieda Ndatipo, a member of the Struggle Kids, who died in Windhoek in 2014 during a peaceful protest when she was shot by a police officer.

Nach dem Tod von George Floyd hat die Protestwelle „Black Lives Matter” (Schwarze Leben zählen) auch Namibia erreicht. Dazu demonstrierten DHPS-Schüler. Dass diese sich mit einer Bewegung gemein machen, die sich gegen Rassismus in den USA richtet, ist sonderbar, weil sie zu Missständen im gleichen Kontext im eigenen Land schweigen. Das sieht mal wieder nach (falsch verstandener) politischer Korrektheit anstatt tiefer Auseinandersetzung aus.

Floyds Tod war unnötig. Das war auch der Tod von Frieda Ndatipo, einem Mitglied der Struggle Kids, die 2014 in Windhoek während einer friedlichen Demo durch die Kugel eines Polizisten starb.
