Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Namibia Office: The Reconciliation Process between Namibia and Germany, Windhoek 2024 (Fact sheet)

Introduction of the Fact Sheet:

“The reconciliation process between Namibia and Germany revolves around the tragic events of the Nama and Ovaherero genocide. Between 1904 and 1908, German colonial forces committed atrocities against these ethnic groups in what is now Namibia.

Despite Germany’s recognition of its colonial actions, a formal apology and structured reparations were only addressed more than a century later.

Acknowledging this painful past is central to the ongoing reconciliation efforts between the two nations.”

The fact sheet is available free of charge in printed form from the office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Windhoek (95 John Meinert St / Cnr. Verdi St, Windhoek West).
