OCAG Chiefs reject invitation to meeting on genocide negotiations

“The Okandjoze Chiefs’ Assembly on Genocide (OCAG) has voiced strong condemnation of the Namibian government’s handling of the Nama and Ovaherero genocide negotiations with Germany. The assembly criticized the government’s acceptance of the Joint Declaration, which they claim undermines the rightful demands of the genocide victims’ descendants.

(…)

Given the current situation, the OCAG has resolved to decline the invitation to the government’s meeting and rather demand a National Consultative Conference on Genocide.

(…)

However, they say they remain open to further dialogue to create a more inclusive Namibian society.

(…)”.
